What We Are Calling For

Despite its long history of philanthropy, Al-Makassed Association needs your support and help at the moment so that we could maintain the quality education we have proudly offered to all learners regardless of their social, political, and religious backgrounds.

We need your unrelenting support so that we can continue our mission with dignity. We really need it so that we could bravely face the current crisis in Lebanon. Last but not least, we have to ensure financial sustainability to our teachers and staff so that our doors and hearts could sincerely embrace Saida’s future generations.

Lend a Hand to Our Teachers

Every school in Lebanon worries about the continuous migration of their qualified and competent teachers at all grade levels. With almost 90 % pay cut, many teachers seek jobs abroad, and every day schools unfortunately lose their distinguished staff. Thus, Al-Makassed desires to supplement the teachers’ salaries so that they could stay and pursue their teaching journey with excellence.

School Support

In addition to the personnel, schools in Lebanon need to sustain important facilities that include among many others, the maintenance of generators needed to provide power during school hours. Lots of other facilities are needed on a daily basis so that the schools run smoothly, and our children get quality education that will prepare them for future success

Save Our Students

Your help is needed to safeguard the education of Lebanon’s youth. With 15% of their teachers leaving, and those remaining teachers not making enough money to sustain their own families, who will teach the next generation?

Founded on April 18, 1879, Al-Makassed Society- Saida operates under the supervision of the Administrative Board, who is elected by the Society’s Board of Regents.

The Society is not only committed to offer students quality education, but it also encourages their freedom of thought and expression, and equip graduate students with critical thinking, lifelong learning skills, responsibility, and leadership skills.

Spent 1.2 billion LL ($80,000) supplementing +630 Al-Makassed teachers and staff over the last six months, and contributed to the training of 106 teachers during two sessions held in the summer of 2021 and currently another 25 teachers are being trained in the first four months of 2022.

Lebanon's Economic Crisis Is Spinning Out Of Control

Lebanon is facing an economic crisis that is believed to rank as one of the most severe crises since the 1850s. Its economy contracted by over 50% in 2021, with grim predictions for further deterioration in 2022. 75% of its population is under the poverty line as the middleclass families sink into despair, and the poor sink ever lower. Unfortunately, there seems to be no way out of this crisis soon since the government is unable to provide the most basic services. Power outages are a way of life, with most neighborhoods only receiving an hour of electricity a day. Food, medical and fuel subsidies have been cut, and people are going hungry, have run out of medicine, and cannot afford transportation to go to their jobs. Thus, your donation can make a difference to our SCHOOL COMMUNITY and wipe out some of the darkness that currently overwhelm our schools!
